About

Kathryn Oliver is an artist on a Pilgrimage. Following an early attraction to Chagall’s dancing angels and the lure of mystical encounter, she found herself entranced by the winter sun illuminating Mary through a stained glass window in an ancient village in Brittany. From here, her road led to the early icons of the mystical tradition of the east, inspiring her most recent large-scale figurative work and in turn, small creations she calls “Prayer Altars.” Reminding us that the kind of attention we pay to our lives, in turn, helps to shape the world around us. Viewable in the Small “Prayer Altars” Gallery.

Today, Kathryn explores human understanding and interconnectedness through story-telling, painting and interactive multi-media (film, drama, painting, masks and poetry). She and Kristi Williamson, “a gifted performance artist” are long-time collaborators, and are currently working on a unique style of interactive-ritual-theater for Maine audiences called, Mythic Heart Theater.
